As part of efforts to encourage reading culture as well as contributing to the needs of the indigent, a non governmental organisation (NGO) The Lean Perspective Charity Foundation has donated a set of O’ level books covering science, arts, business and commercial to students in Umuokoro Ikenga, Eziudo, Ezinihitte Local Government Area of Imo state Nigeria.
According to Benard Njoku, the Nonprofit representative in Eastern Nigeria, this gesture is in furtherance of the Nonprofit noble vision of empowering young people with books which are tools to fight poverty and illiteracy.
“This organization believes readers are leaders, hence all must be done to encourage the reading culture among Nigerian students and widen their scope of influence,” he said.
The books were handed over to a retired Prominent Educationalist Mrs. Edith Ibeji in the community to oversee the distribution to students in need.
Responding on behalf of the students, the Retired Prominent Educationalist Mrs, Edith Ibeji thanked the Nonprofit and it’s founder Uzoma Chukwuocha for his dedication, selflessness to the welfare of the less privilege.
In the past, nonprofit has donated mini libraries to Nursing schools, and secondary schools in rural communities across Nigeria. In addition, the foundation has also carried out countless Health outreaches to support women and the elderly.
